Today they film "by the bridges", lets get closer to the set... |
What has Terence put on his arms? |
AOh! They're pads for his elbows. Why does he need them? |
The scene begins: Don Matteo crosses the bridge... |
...he stops a moment to look at a car...
...then he gets his bicycle, |
puts his foot on the pedal
and... |
...jumps on just like always,
but... |
something happens and... |
he falls down! |
As you can see on the left in the photo, Terence is filmed in close-up by Fabrizio Lucci, the Director of Photography, and further back there is another camera filming the long shot under the supervision of Giovanni Brescini. In these images you can see the rehearsals they made to find the best point for the fall.

The same shot is filmed several times from three angles, here is the reverse angle:

This means that Terence had to repeat the fall many times, a true test of his abilities, so much so that the crew applauded his efforts each time! But the mystery remains: what happened to Don Matteo? |
